What Are Dentures?
The term dentures refers to the removable replacement that is used for missing teeth. They’re made by taking measurements of your jaw and then fitting the patterns exactly to your mouth. You can either get immediate dentures which are made in advance and meant to be used as soon as the gum tissue and teeth are removed, or conventional dentures which require your mouth to have healed before you use them.
Typically the healing is complete in about 8 – 12 weeks. While immediate dentures allow you to have full function, it also may require more adjustments as your tissue begins to heal.
When Do I Need Dentures?
Anytime you have missing teeth and want to chew and look better, you should be fitted for dentures. Depending on whether or not you have several or all of them missing, you can either get partial or complete dentures.
Complete dentures are for when all of your teeth have been removed and you need total replacement.
Partial will fill in any missing teeth and prevent additional movement of the remaining teeth within your mouth. There are several options available, so you’re likely to find a device that works for you.
What Is The Cost For Dentures?
The cost of your dentures may usually be covered by your dental insurance plan or extended dental coverage. How To Pay For Your Dental Treatment?
